Understanding Your Parish Council’s Budget: 2026-27
At St Dennis Parish Council, transparency and communication are at the heart of everything we do. That’s why, for the second year running, we are proud to share our Budget Report with our community. This report is designed to give residents a clear picture of how the Parish Council allocates its funding and where your contributions through the precept—the portion of your Council Tax allocated to the Parish—are being spent. We understand that Council Tax increases can raise questions, and this report aims to provide transparency and reassurance about how these funds are used to benefit our Parish.
St Dennis Parish Council has produced a detailed budget report, and we believe it is a vital step toward ensuring accountability and engagement with our residents. By sharing this information, we want to give you a better understanding of how the Parish Council works to manage local resources, deliver essential services, and improve our community.
Some key areas of spending for 2026–2027 include: Maintenance of public spaces, including parks, Trelavour Prazey, the cemetery, bus shelters and public footpaths. Supporting community projects that enhance the quality of life in the parish. Investing in facilities and infrastructure, such as the takeover of the Hall Road Play area, the continued enhancement of the public toilets and new gateway signage for the village & hamlets. Also planning for the future by setting aside reserves for larger projects and unexpected costs.
With large percentage increases across services, wages and goods an increase in the precept is required to ensure the Parish Council is not facing a deficit next year. However, every penny of the precept is carefully considered and allocated to maximise its impact on the parish. The 2026–2027 Budget reflects the Parish Council’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that St Dennis remains a thriving, welcoming place to live and work. While the challenges of balancing resources are real, we believe that this transparent approach will help strengthen the relationship between the Parish Council and the residents we serve.
